In October 2015 the 1st international Mamanet seminar took place in Israel/Eilat. Three representatives from Austria as well as other countries of Europe and America participated. Beside the presentation of the Mamanet concept, several theoretical and practical units were presented. Immediately after the return from this exiting seminar, Mamanet Austria was founded. It was possible to create all the necessary basic conditions through a startup sponsorship of ASKÖ Austria. On November, 23rd, 2015, the association of Mamanet Austria was officially founded – with only women members in the board as well as one employee (general secretary) with her own office structure.
As a result, over 45 introduction trainings and interactive stations were held at events in cooperation with associations and umbrella organizations in Vienna and the surrounding area as well as advertising material was created and distributed. A further employee has been engaged on part-time basis and was paid by fee.
Each interactive station was a big success as one to two women have been motivated to be part of a regular Mamanet course.
Furthermore a large number of presentations were held in numerous committees, organizations and associations.
On May, 28th, 2016, the first basic workshop of Mamanet Austria took place. 15 women received the first certifications as Cachibol supervisors, so that the first teams could be formed.
A crucial impuls came from the 1st international seminar from 1st to 4th September 2016, in which more than 30 participants from 4 countries became familiar with Mamanet.
A team of experts around Mamanet founder Ofra Abramovich especially traveled to Vienna for that purpose. The participants were taught by Ziv Sedbon, Chief of the Professional Committee, Ishai Meytal, Member of the Board and responsible for regulation issues, Lior Talmor, Referee Coordinator, as well as Levia Hart, referee and trainer. Furthermore the children were introduced as scorers. All together the spirit of Mamanet was successfully transferred. All participants were highly motivated to multiply their enthusiasm in their surroundings and staredt their own Mamanet groups!
From September 2016 the Austrian Ministry of Sport took over a sponsorship.
In autumn 2016 it was possible to start with ten weekly regular Mamanet courses. This was possible thanks to good cooperations with umbrella organizations, sport clubs, associations, municipalities and social institutions such as: wohnpartner, Regionalforum Wien, VHS (the Austrian community

college), Early Aids, AMS (the Austrian job center), Pensioners Association Austria, Austrian - Israeli society and embassy and so on.
Two of the courses are integration projects, in which Muslim Turkish women participate and are used as trainer and trainees. As a result, it was possible to create new jobs in this area in cooperation with the AMS (the Austrian job center). These projects are financed by the responsible city district in Vienna.
In Austria, the main target is to attract women for Mamanet, who do not have much access to sports. This includes single mothers, working women, occupational mothers, overweight women and children, women with a migration background, and families from a socially weak environment. In this environment it is necessary to create relevant conditions (inexpensive offers, close to the place of residence, child care, if necessary without men presence..).
Forecast:
it is planned to held further regular workshops as well as introduction trainings and coaches seminars also in other federal states of Austria. The latest kick-off event was in Burgenland on November, 5th, 2016. Moreover the focus is on the formation of further teams all over Austria.
In order to provide high-quality coaches trainings, it is planned to organize regular “Coach the Coaches” clinics as well as cooperations with well-recognized organizations and coaches i.e the BSPA (Austrian sports education academy).
From autumn 2017 all Mamanet players will be licensed in order to establish regional leagues (in at least 6 provinces in Austria with at least 3 teams). In June 2017, a team will be sent to the CSIT world games in Riga.
In June 2018, the 1st national Austrian Championship is planned to be organized and the number of teams should increase continuously.
